 "Legends" 2007

Bloody Mary

Legend claims that the evil woman can be summoned by chanting "Bloody Mary"

into a mirror three times in a darkened room lit only by a candle

After the given amount of chants,

the spirit will then appear in a mirror and claw your eyes out and death will follow.

She may drive you insane or pull you into the mirror, never to be seen again.

Who Bloody Mary really is remains a mystery.

Most accounts point to a woman named Mary Worth,

a witch who was burned at the stake and has returned for revenge.

While you may think you're safe from mean ole Bloody Mary, think again..........

Legend has it that if you are near a mirror in total darkness, she can still come for you, regardless of whether or not you're trying to call for her.

The Mad Doctor

Rumor has it that there was a Doctor at the State Hospital in Traverse City

who used to conduct brain experiments on the inmates

Not all the experiments were a success

Marie Laveau

It is difficult to separate fact and fiction in Marie Laveau’s life. Some consider her a witch who consorted with Satan, a thief and a procuress. To many others she was a kind, charitable woman, who nursed a great many victims during the yellow fever epidemics and who visited for decades the prisoners in the parish jail, bringing them food and clothing as well as voodoo charms. The whole truth about her life is thus difficult to pin down. Marie Laveau was an uneducated woman. If she could read and write, that was the extent of her schooling. Orleans history and folklore.

The Voodoo Queen was known for her involvement in Black Magic. But it is likely she mixed magic with spying and blackmail to get her way. The elite of the city would seek out Marie Laveau for advice. A very clever woman, she personally knew many of the servants of the city's most influential citizens; from them she would obtain her information to "work her magic." Marie, who had once been a hairdresser to the ruling class of the city, knew how servants could obtain information on their masters. However, it was most likely that her belief in Voodoo was real; and it was certain that many in the city of all races feared both Voodoo and the Voodoo Queen

.

Marie Laveau is recalled for her Voodoo meetings on the banks of Bayou St. John. Large numbers, perhaps hundreds, of all classes and races  would attend the sensual rituals at the so-called "Wishing Spot" on the bayou, where the blood of decapitated roosters was consumed. There the erotic snake dance was performed. (the snake being the symbol of the Voodoo god Dambella )

The Swamp Thing

The Swamp thing is humanoid mass of vegetable matter who fights to protect his swamp home and the environment. He seeks the men who murdered his wife and caused his monstrous transformation, as well as searching for a means to transform back to human form.

Our 2007 Dogman

Brian Rosinski who drew the above picture

grew up just two houses down  from our haunted house.

He designed the mask we used for our 2007 Dogman.

His design was based on how he thought the dogman may have evolved over the years

This is a photo of the actual mask.

Pretty Scarey huh?
